Race Car Scans is a place for racers to share scans and print files they made or have the right to share. Every member confirms that when they upload, and we take copyright seriously. If you believe something on racecarscans.com uses your work without permission, tell us and we’ll act quickly.
Report a file
Send a written notice to our designated copyright agent (contact details below). To be valid under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512), your notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name works for email).
- The copyrighted work you believe was infringed, for example a description or a link to your original file.
- The file on Race Car Scans you want removed, with a link to its page so we can find it.
- Your name, mailing address, phone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
What happens next
When we receive a complete notice, we remove or disable access to the file promptly and let the member who uploaded it know. Incomplete notices may slow things down, so please include everything listed above.
If your file was removed by mistake
If you uploaded a file that was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same agent. It must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- The file that was removed and where it appeared before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the file was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you’re outside the United States, any judicial district in which Race Car Scans may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.
After a valid counter-notice, we may restore the file in 10 to 14 business days unless the person who filed the original notice tells us they have taken court action.
Repeat infringers
We close the accounts of members who repeatedly upload files they don’t have the right to share.
